چکیده

The Cyclone Global Navigation Satellite System (CYGNSS) mission can measure sea surface wind over tropical oceans with unprecedented temporal resolution and spatial coverage, so as to estimate latent sensible heat fluxes (LHF SHF). In this paper, the satellite-derived LHF/SHF estimates from CYGNSS are quantitatively evaluated analyzed by those Tropical Moored Buoy. Comparisons of LHF SHF demonstrate good performance reliability flux products during period 2017–2022, including Level 2 Ocean Surface Heat Flux Climate Data Record (CDR) Version 1.0 1.1. Different characteristics in separately based on each buoy array, suggesting better agreement Atlantic for products. Based Coupled Ocean-Atmosphere Response Experiment 3.5 algorithm, impact speed is using Science V3.1 NOAA V1.2 science results show that directly affects accuracy products, an improvement 17% root-mean-square error CDR V1.0. Especially, Indian Ocean, be improved 26.8%. This paper demonstrates along orbit important supplement situ observational data will benefit study global climate change.

Estimation of the Surface Heat Flux Response to Sea Surface Temperature Anomalies over the Global Oceans

The surface heat flux response to underlying sea surface temperature (SST) anomalies (the surface heat flux feedback) is estimated using 42 yr (1956–97) of ship-derived monthly turbulent heat fluxes and 17 yr (1984–2000) of satellite-derived monthly radiative fluxes over the global oceans for individual seasons. Net surface heat flux feedback is generally negative (i.e., a damping of the underl...

Convective and large‐scale mass flux profiles over tropical oceans determined from synergistic analysis of a suite of satellite observations

A new, satellite-based methodology is developed to evaluate convective mass flux and large-scale total mass flux. To derive the convective mass flux, candidate profiles of in-cloud vertical velocity are first constructed with a simple plume model under the constraint of ambient sounding and then narrowed down to the solution that matches satellite-derived cloud top buoyancy. Meanwhile, the larg...

Surface Flux Variability over the North Pacific and North Atlantic Oceans

Daily fields obtained from a 17-yr atmospheric GCM simulation are used to study the surface sensible and latent heat flux variability and its relationship to the sea level pressure (SLP) field. The fluxes are analyzed over the North Pacific and Atlantic Oceans during winter. The leading mode of interannual SLP variability consists of a single center associated with the Aleutian low in the Pacif...

Effects of surface heat flux-induced sea surface temperature changes on tropical cyclone intensity

[1] It is known that in deep and open oceans, the effect of sea surface sensible and evaporative heat fluxes on the tropical cyclone-induced sea surface cooling is small compared to that caused by turbulent mixing and cold water entrainment into the upper ocean mixed-layer. This study shows that tropical cyclone-induced surface heat fluxes dominate the surface cooling in near-coastal shallow oc...

Earth ’ s surface heat flux

We present a revised estimate of Earth’s surface heat flux that is based upon a heat flow data-set with 38 347 measurements, which is 55% more than used in previous estimates. Our methodology, like others, accounts for hydrothermal circulation in young oceanic crust by utilising a half-space cooling approximation. For the rest of Earth’s surface, we estimate the average heat flow for different ...
